Despite her youthful appearance Karen has over 10 years of career consulting experience and has helped thousands of people find their passion and feel positive about their job search. She is a best-selling author of two books on job searching; "Hire Power: the ultimate job guide for young Canadians" and "The Job of Your Life: Four Groundbreaking Steps for Getting the Work You Want" and has done speaking and television appearances across the country. Her most recent book, “The Complete Book of Resumes” is now available from Sourcebooks Inc. Karen began her ascent to being a career guru back in her college heydays at McGill University. While enjoying the idiosyncratic nature of her studies in her Honours Culture Studies degree, her more practical temperament determined that the youth of Canada needed some help on their job search skills. Thus followed some years of research, a resume consulting business for recent grads and the publication of her first book, the Canadian bestseller "Hire Power: the ultimate job guide for young Canadians". . Karen noticed that people who were able to discover their true life and career passion fared better when they communicated that excitement to employers. She also found that people who let their personality shine through were better able to connect in a job search. Through marketing her book, she realized it wasn't just students who needed help finding and conveying their passion - adults at all different stages needed career wisdom too. Karen returned to university and received her Masters in Counseling Psychology at the Adler School of Professional Psychology while simultaneously writing her next book, "The Job of Your Life: Four Groundbreaking Steps for Getting the Work You Want". "Job of Your Life" became a cult favourite amongst career transition book aficionados and Karen appeared on such shows as Canada AM, The Camilla Scott Show, Her Money, More to Life, the Chatroom, Breakfast Television, CP24, CBC News and was a regular on Daytime as well as speaking to a wide variety of audiences. Her newest book “The Complete Book of Resumes” comes as a result of working closely with IQ PARTNERS recruiting side, weaving her own knowledge of what it takes to write a resume with the experience of recruiters when they read them, to create one of the most advanced, insightful and focused resume books on the market. As Senior Associate and Founding Partner, Career Management, Karen is responsible for career counsel that reflects a deep commitment to her clients’ career goals and quality of life. She is currently working on her fourth book on how to explore and discover your next career safely and successfully, and can consult with you in anything career-related, from defining your Life Mission to your Cover Letter. Most of all, her goal is to get you peacefully, passionately, playfully and purposefully ready to handle the next step in your career.
What She Likes Most About Career Consulting: "When you find the one thing that makes someone really interesting... and knowing that everyone has at least 'one thing'." |
