Marketing and Communications Specialist

We're looking for a skilled Specialist to join our clients growing marketing and communications team.

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Specialist will be a communications “all-rounder”, responsible for various tasks including but not limited to social media management, campaign support, content development, as well as support for various communication strategies and tactical plans for corporate projects and initiatives.


The successful candidate must have a “can do” attitude and be comfortable interacting with stakeholders at all levels.


The Role

  • Support overall marketing and communications initiatives across the organization
  • Proactively develop social media content, adapting writing style and message for the audience and the platform, and maintain calendar of social media content
  • Regularly scan social media in search of opportunities to share curated content
  • Develop stakeholder communications pieces including but not limited to articles, FAQs, quarterly updates, etc.
  • Support the design and distribution of monthly newsletters and eblasts containing approved content
  • Support industry campaign initiatives including Canadian Patient Safety Week, Pharmacy Awareness Month, National Nursing Week, etc.
  • Help organize sponsorship and speaking opportunities
  • Provide internal communications support
  • Liaise with external vendors such as photographers, promotional vendors, etc. to achieve identified deliverables
  • Support production of digital content including podcasts, webinars, etc.
  • Edit and proofread copy from various stakeholders
  • Work on several projects simultaneously while meeting established timelines
  • Format deliverables in a visually compelling manner, sources appropriate imagery, etc.
  • Proactively update online platforms (external website, etc.) with content as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


Experience/Skills Required

  • Experience writing for social media and understands what makes a compelling post, graphic, across various platforms, etc.
  • Exceptional business writing skills, with the ability to quickly identify the right tone/message and adapt for intended audiences
  • Solid understanding of communications best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and laser-sharp editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong time and project management skills including proven ability to work on several projects simultaneously while meeting established timelines
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as intermediate Excel               skills
  • Technical skills to execute communications in a variety of media, including using content management systems and social media platforms (LinkedIn and Twitter)
  • Ability to learn and master new software platforms
  • Work as part of a team and use constructive feedback to take your work to the next level
  • Has a “can do” attitude and proactively seeks solutions to problems
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role is required
  • Formal education in Communications or Public Relations is required



  • Ability to design graphics for social media using Photoshop
  • Experience using MailChimp for email marketing
  • Experience in a fast-paced agency environment
