Content Specialist

We're looking for  a skilled Content Specialist to join our clients marketing and communications team.


Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Content Specialist will be responsible for writing and editing compelling, targeted and effective content across various platforms for all stakeholder audiences.


Deliverables will range from newsletters, case studies and white papers to presentations, key messages, website content, social media posts, FAQs and more.


The successful candidate must have a “can do” attitude and be comfortable interacting with stakeholders at all levels.


The Role

  • Proactively generates content by working with internal and external stakeholders; content may include but is not limited to articles, case studies, white papers, news releases, presentations, key messages, website content, award submissions, and FAQs


  • Owns the full lifecycle of the content generation process from brainstorming and writing to navigating various approval channels, staying on top of timelines


  • Works with external agency to design and distribute a range of monthly newsletters


  • Conducts interviews with internal and external stakeholders


  • Proposes, prepares and manages calendar of external content


  • Formats content in a visually compelling manner, sources appropriate imagery, etc.


  • Adapts writing style and message for the audience and the platform


  • Translates content into compelling social media posts


  • Pitches select content to industry media


  • Edits and proofreads copy from various stakeholders


  • Works on several projects simultaneously while meeting established timelines


  • Assists other departments with creating and editing bulletins pertaining to industry issues


  • Provides communications support for various communication strategies and tactical plans for corporate projects and initiatives


  • Track content analytics and prepare quarterly reports Updates online platforms (external website, etc.) with content as needed


  • Other duties as assigned


Experience/Skills Required


  • Exceptional business writing skills, with the ability to quickly identify the right tone/message and adapt for intended audiences


  • Demonstrated experience generating engaging marketing content for a variety of audiences and platforms


  • Strong attention to detail and laser-sharp editing and proofreading skills


  • Strong time management and interpersonal skills, including proven ability to work on several projects simultaneously while meeting established timelines


  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as intermediate Excel skills


  • Experience with tracking communication metrics and website analytics and preparing reports


  • Technical skills to execute communications in a variety of media, including using content management systems and social media platforms (LinkedIn and Twitter)


  • Work as part of a team and use constructive feedback to take your work to the next level
  • Has a “can do” attitude and proactively seeks solutions to problems
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role is required
  • Formal education in Communications or Public Relations is required



  • Familiarity with Mailchimp and Photoshop
