Job Description

IQ PARTNERS Inc. is currently looking to hire a Director of Procurement for our Food Services client in downtown Toronto for an exciting Full-time permanent job opportunity in which you can manage the business as if it was your own.

 

OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Procurement is responsible to lead and oversee the procurement of goods and services for all brands and offices. Collaborate with vendors, external service providers, and internal teams to create and establish best in class procurement and supply chain ecosystems that result in efficiency, improvements, quality enhancements and cost reductions. As Department Head, the Director of Procurement creates budgets, performs strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend and find opportunities to improve profitability. The incumbent will establish strategic vendor relationships, assist in establishes payment terms and negotiate supply chain contracts and is responsible for actual purchasing of goods.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and assist the purchasing team in evolving the supply planning model and ordering cycles to ensure optimal levels of inventory

• Design and implement systems for the ordering of finished goods and raw materials that minimizes stockholding quantities yet meets market and location demands

• Assess, manage, and mitigate supply chain and procurement risks

• Work with the Finance Department and Operations to monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand

• Work with the Operations teams to create data-based planning and purchasing models

• Develop, lead, and ensure seamless execution of purchasing strategies and strategic partnerships

• Support the team in and distribute accurate purchase orders and house budgets

• Establish standard operating procedures for purchasing; monitor the effectiveness of procedures; revise and improve purchasing processes through redesign and automation

• Track and report weekly on KPIs related to purchasing, planning and inventory levels

• Vendor Sourcing and Management Improve/build a strong supplier base to ensure continuity of supply in alignment with company business objectives, values, and emerging product needs

• Collaborate with vendors, external service providers, and internal teams to identify and implement opportunities for supply chain efficiency improvements, quality enhancements, cost reductions, and materials management

• Coordinate all franchise rollout initiatives within procurement

• Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers

• Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers

• Monitor product and vendor compliance

• Coach, mentor and develop high performing team

• Create effective reporting structures for each function

• Empower employees to take responsibility for their work and accomplishments and conduct regular one-on-one’s with direct reports to help them reach their full potential

• Create and maintain regular, ongoing communication standards in Operations and participate regularly

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree/diploma in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration is an asset

• 5+ years in procurement or purchasing of materials/equipment/supplies and development and review of contracts; Multi-unit experience is required

• Restaurant and/or food & beverage experience is preferred

• Franchise and corporate experience is preferred

• Strong understanding of Canadian and US Hospitality landscape

• Experience in implementation and enhancement of procurement systems through process and system redesign and implementation

• Exposure to EDI procurement processes

 

Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills in English

• Superior business acumen with demonstrated ability to analyze and impact business results at an organizational level

• Deep appreciation for data and algorithms

• Lean Six Sigma experience is an asset

• Skilled at negotiation and networking

• Understanding of profit and loss financial statements

• Proven history of successfully motivating and managing people

• Positive attitude and willingness to always push to be better

• Competitive urgency in dealing with things as they arise in a professional way

• Effective conflict management skills

• Excellent communication, relationship and influencing skills
