Based in Toronto, the General Accountant is part of the Finance team and will support the growth of a successful, fast paced, and progressive organization. The General Accountant will report to and work closely with the Finance Director and other Team Members.
Responsibilities: Accounts Receivable- Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and collection of member and customer accounts
- Stay current and maintain all A/R; work directly with customers and account manager to ensure that all invoicing and receivables are current
- Review and record customer and member payments along with making remote deposit of payments delivered via mail
Accounts Payable- Support the AP processing cycle; collect and process all invoices and all aspects of business expenses and process payment, including coding invoices, obtaining approvals and entering invoices
- Process weekly EFT/Wire payment and cheque run, send out remittance emails
- Updating cash flow statement for payments such as cheque runs and expense report payments
- Reconciling corporate credit cards
- Back-up for other Accounts Payable tasks including monitoring AP mailbox
Other- Perform monthly bank and Inventory reconciliation
- Prepare GST/HST, QST Return
- Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
- Post month end adjusting entries
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as needed
- Assist with audit preparation
- Work closely with other departments and staff members such operations and compliance, customer/members service, account management and program directors
What you bring: Education and Experience- University degree in accounting is required and an accredited professional accounting designation is preferrable
- Minimum 3 years of broad and progressively responsible experience in accounting function
- Excellent experience in Excel
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus and various accounting software
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
