Job Description

Group Account Director 

Reports to Managing Director

You oversee your client’s business like it’s your own. You’re a partner in planning and decision-making. You’re responsible for the success of today and the months and years ahead. You are accountable for all four pillars on your Account: creative, strategy, account management/operations and finance.

What you own:
• Develop strong client-agency relationships at all levels. Equip and encourage your team to follow your lead
• Forge a strong bond with senior-level clients: you’re their first call for all matters
• Grow the business: actively scan for ways to increase business and revenue on this account. Champion the agency/network’s tools and methodologies, to deepen our relationship with the client. Pursue opportunities both organic, and new. Be a hunter, not just a farmer.
• Lead creative development: inspire the team to create great work. Evaluate work to ensure it’s strategically-sound. Ensure creative excellence.
• Own the financial picture: keep an eye on resourcing. Identify efficiencies with your production partners. Negotiate large-scale budgets with clients, and oversee the small ones with your team. Protect profitability on your account
• Build bridges: create bonds between the account team and our internal and external counterparts – especially senior leaders at partner agencies. Lead brainstorming and tissue sessions as required.
• Manage up: keep your GAD up to speed on key developments for the business. Identify issues early and propose a solution or ask for help swiftly
• Empower your team: manage and mentor your direct reports
Key documents: Staffing plan for OOS projects, creative briefs, presentations, performance reviews

What you support:
• Participate in business planning, IMCs and creative briefs, working with the Director of Strategy and Managing Director 
• Inform the development of Scopes of Work and Staffing Plans, with the Managing Director 
• Participate in new business pitches as needed

What qualifies you:
• 10+ years of Account Management experience; with some years at a senior level, including nurturing a team of direct reports
• Ability to build long-term client relationships with client directors and department leads - with unwavering confidence
• Skilled at strong, persuasive communications, both 1:1 and in bigger forums
• Proven track record leading integrated campaigns, having made your mark both creatively and strategically
• Understand financial operations for a client’s business, including resourcing, revenue and profitability
