Job Description

Our client is a tier 1 integrated advertising agency servicing Canadian & US clients and we are on the hunt for a Public Relations Manager to join the team.

In this role you will be responsible for internal & external agency communications. The PR Manager role creates and maintains a favorable reputation for the agency by communicating programs, accomplishments and/or points of view, first and foremost towards the marketing industry in Canada (potential new business prospects) and secondly towards the advertising agency (for recruitment purposes).

In addition to acting as the communication project manager and main agency communications strategist and copywriter, the PR Manager might hire and manage freelance copywriters, graphic designers and others. You will manage the Agency PR budget and report jointly to the Managing Director & CCO.

Goals:

  1. Create and maintain a favorable reputation for the agency and its methodology, amongst the business industry in North America (Canada and USA) with an end-goal of new business prospects
  2. Keep the agency Top Of Mind as one of North America’s most effective and creative advertising agency
  3. Maintain a good employer’s reputation amongst the advertising and design industry for talent recruitment purposes

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support the agency’s Executive Team’s profiles in the press and in social media according to an agreed spokesperson’s communication strategy, and facilitating their leadership presence at speaking engagements at Industry Events
  • Support the launch of all agency campaigns towards North American’s press
  • Support the agency’s best of creative work in all creative outlets in coordination with our Creative and Award show coordinator
  • Lead the Agency’s content on our own social media channels (TW, IG, IN, FB)
  • Be the voice of the agency amongst the Global Agency Network PR Ring team, support and lead our global Agency Collective Communications initiative for the agency in Canada
  • Crisis management:  release information to counter negative publicity and handle crisis and emergency communications.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, English, Communications or Marketing with a PR or Advertising concentration. College degree as default.
  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter, and a highly social connector
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Must understand and love all social media platforms
  • Have a full understanding of media needs and media relationships
  • Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail
  • Possess the acute ability to keep information confidential, even in a very social environment
  • Ability to work in highly strategic projects, hence handling high-pressure
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude
  • Self motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
