Job Description

IQ PARTNERS Inc. is currently looking to hire a Senior Relationship Manager for our Agriculture Lending client in Falher, Alberta for an exciting Full-time permanent job opportunity in which you can manage a book of business as if it was your own.

Overall accountability


  • regularly exercising sound judgment and making appropriate decisions by taking into account all known facts and related impacts concerning lending and loan administration transactions for a portfolio comprised primarily, but not entirely, of large and complex AgProduction accounts;
  • performs complex analysis when reviewing loan applications, business proposals, or requests for partial discharges, and other loan administration activities, while accurately and effectively assessing credit risks;
  • partners with Representatives, Customer Service and utilizes the Relationship Management Process to identify and focus on key relationships and prospects, effectively planning sales strategy and developing needs using a planned and managed process;
  • uses a specific strategy and tactic to obtain and retain business in a highly competitive environment and articulates the value proposition of the business;
  • builds and develops relationships within the business – customers, prospects, COI’s etc. Gets to know our customer and builds relationships to mitigate risk.


Key accountabilities


Proactively develops and maintains client relationships in the agriculture industry (50%)

  • networks within the community and attends community meetings and trade shows to promote company image and products; 
  • identifies, develops and maintains client relationships by identifying customer needs, counseling customers on appropriate borrowing packages, and reviewing and/or revising clients' business cases;
  • builds relationships with customers, prospective clients and centres of influence in order to determine and fulfill their needs;
  • uses tact and diplomacy, and adapts communication strategy and interpersonal approach when conveying positive or negative messages to customers and prospects;
  • provides tailored solutions to customers including the promotion of non-lending products such as insurance and software, as well as other business lines;
  • supports, promotes and utilizes partners in the Agribusiness and Agri-Food division as well as Alliance partners including crop input and the National Equipment Dealers Finance Program (NEDFP) to build the business;
  • executes the Relationship Management Process through identifying and focusing on key relationships and prospects, effectively planning sales strategies, and developing needs using a planned and managed approach;
  • documents sales activities in the prescribed software.


Provides lending services to large and complex primary producers (40%)

  • performs financial analysis, assesses credit risk, compiles and completes loan documents, negotiates security, and completes security valuations; 
  • conducts credit checks, collecting and documenting financial information when necessary;
  • understands and utilizes risk based pricing.
  • prices collecting fees and pricing premiums as appropriate;
  • partners with Representatives, Customer Service to complete lending and loan administration functions and manages the customer contact program.




As a member of the district team shares knowledge and provides informal leadership to support the following: (10%)

  • promotes consistency in the application of the Relationship Management Process;
  • provides mentorship, coaching and guidance to Relationship Managers and Representatives, Customer Service;
  • supports and champions district initiatives.



Knowledge and skill


  • The work requires extensive agricultural industry knowledge supplemented by in-depth knowledge of marketing, sales, appraisals, and agricultural lending practices, theories and trends.  A working knowledge of various software applications and proficiency with a personal computer is essential. A strong knowledge of company loan products and the ability to provide feedback on new products would be valuable.


  • Knowledge is generally acquired by having completed an undergraduate degree in agricultural finance, business or commerce supplemented with a P.Ag accreditation, and 4+ years’ experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
