Reporting to the Manager of the Project Management Office, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, reporting, and coordinating multiple multidisciplinary engineering projects. This role involves assembling project teams to ensure stakeholder satisfaction, organizing complex activities for project development and execution, and reporting on key performance indicators to management.
Your Key Accountabilities: - Project Planning & Execution
- Develop, track, and manage the overall project budget, plans, schedules, and scope to ensure successful project delivery.
- Prepare material, cost, and timing estimates for projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Ensure appropriate systems development and project management processes are being utilized.
- Lead efforts to improve processes and implement lessons learned from previous projects to enhance future project performance.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key point of contact to effectively communicate project progress, updates, and changes to stakeholders and the PMO (Project Management Office).
- Collaborate with client stakeholders, vendors, and project teams to align on project goals and manage expectations.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Assemble and manage project resources, including mentoring and developing junior designers and engineers in project management.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team, acting as a leader in resolving project challenges and obstacles.
- Project Oversight
- Oversee multiple small to large-scale projects, ensuring collaborative work with technical resources and client stakeholders.
- Monitor and control project costs, providing accurate reporting on project performance, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure that safety remains paramount in all undertakings, adhering to industry regulations and safety standards.
- Professional Development
- Participates in training and certification programs, as required.
- Contributes to and attends relevant industry conferences, workshops and seminars, as required.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Provides mentorship and leadership to junior staff.
- Engage in learning opportunities to develop technical and professional skills.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 12+ years of project management experience with a focus on mining-related processes.
- PMP or equivalent designation (asset).
- Strong knowledge of mining and mining-related processes.
- Strong knowledge of PMBOK guide processes and terminology (asset).
- Experience with Agile project management (asset).
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Extensive experience in project estimating, proposal writing, and use of industry applications (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor).
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with strong report-writing abilities.
- Strong numerical ability and reasoning skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated and driven to achieve client satisfaction targets.
- Possess a valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
