Elaine is a Director, Client Services with IQ PARTNERS with a specialty focus in recruiting senior sales executives and developing new business.  

After spending 3 years teaching and travelling throughout Southeast Asia, Elaine returned to Toronto to begin her career in advertising sales.  Soon after, she was offered a recruiting role with a headhunting firm that had formerly placed her.  She accepted, and spent the next several years driving business and building the sales and marketing recruitment arms of the firm.

In all, she has amassed a total of 18 years in sales, sales management, and recruiting at the agency level – selling both contingent and retained search – and has a deep understanding of the sales process and what it takes to build a successful sales team.

1. Who are your heroes in business?

My first boss and mentor, Nigel.  He stuck with his vision and didn’t compromise his integrity for success.

3. What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen in an interview or on a resume (no names please)?

I’ve seen inappropriate email addresses on resumes, such as snowbunny@mail.com.  Also, one time I called a candidate and their outgoing voicemail played ‘Baby Got Back’.

4. What’s the one quality companies should look for when hiring a headhunter?

Proven track record and strong understanding of the market they are recruiting for.

5. What trait do you most like to see in a job-seeker?

Intelligence, ability to get the job done.
