Storytelling Evolved – Help lead an entrepreneurial and technology driven organization that is disrupting the entertainment industry.

How often in your career do you get a chance to really make a difference?  When was the last time you had the opportunity to create and drive paradigm shifting change for a global industry?

Open Screenplay is the first ever free online platform that brings together people from across the globe with different backgrounds, experiences, and stories to collaborate on writing screenplays.  It lets you create entertainment content for everyone, by everyone.  Inspired by the open-source software movement, Open Screenplay helps turn ideas for a movie, television show, or webseries into reality in a collaborative and exciting new way; and users can even earn money in the process.  Welcome to the future of entertainment, written by you!

Open Screenplay breaks down major barriers in the entertainment industry and turns the traditional screenplay writing process on its head by making it social.  The platform provides users with a guided proprietary process for creating content as well as access to an engaged audience for constructive feedback.  You can discover content that entertains and inspires you or collaboratively create it.

Who decides which contributions make it in? Everyone does, together - through a completely democratic voting process.  For contributions that are voted in, users will receive a writing credit and a share in the profits if an open screenplay is sold. We’ve included the first ever online Screenplay Market which allows studios, producers, and agents to bid on Open Screenplays while they’re being written.

When it comes to screenwriting, women are underrepresented by a factor of 5 to 1 and minorities by a factor of 7 to 1.  Open Screenplay will positively disrupt the entertainment industry by increasing a much needed diversity in the screenwriting business.

The potential is HUGE and the timing has never been better.  Just recently Toronto based story-sharing platform Wattpad raised an additional $51 MM USD on a valuation of $398 MM.  Boasting over 65 million users Wattpad CEO Allen Lau says, “Entertainment is in a period of disruption, and how people find and experience stories is evolving”.

Open Screenplay has successfully launched a working product and built out a robust and impressive board of advisors that includes Sanford Climan, a Hollywood veteran and Golden Globe & British Academy Award winning producer of Scorsese’s The Aviator.  Now Open Screenplay needs additional senior leadership support to drive and direct growth.  That’s where you come in!

This is a hands on Chief Technology Officer role where you not only need to know how to lead, you also need to be an accomplished Full-Stack software developer.  You’re likely a passionate technology expert with a combination of both leadership and hands-on execution experience and you’re now ready to join a “start-up” culture.

This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-moving, creative and energized company that’s growing on a global level.  Bring your knowledge, passion and leadership qualities to help take them to the next level.
