John Trenholme

John joined IQ PARTNERS in 2022, following more than 15 years as an in-house TA, people, process, and operations leader. During this time, he built high-performing talent acquisition functions and strategies, including talent acquisition systems and technologies, processes, training and assessment tools, and employer brand and creative attraction initiatives.

Today, John executes executive search and leadership and advisory services mandates for his private clients, concentrated in the retail, manufacturing, and resource sectors. Increasingly, he also works with clients in the public and not-for-profit sectors, including environment, health care, education, infrastructure, sport, and arts and culture. His focus is on identifying and attracting transformational leaders to their teams.

John’s commitment to his clients is reflected in his work with Leave No Trace Canada, a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting outdoor ethics and respect for Canada’s wilderness and natural areas, where he chairs the board of directors. John has been instrumental in building and executing Leave No Trace's strategic plan for 2025-2027, driving donor and corporate partnership support, and leading recruitment efforts to expand the board. On weekends he’s often on a bike or in a canoe exploring Ontario, or at hockey rinks and baseball diamonds cheering on his three boys.
