Architectural Technologist

Job Description:
 
Our residential team specializing in small residential major alterations, renovations and new construction is seeking a full-time, experienced Architectural Technologist to join our team in Toronto, ON. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow within the field of small residential architecture, design and permitting project management. The candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Take over the whole project life cycle from initiation, meeting with the clients, completing proposals, running the design development, permitting and approvals, & coordination with the construction team
• Conduct the schematic design for the zoning research purposes based on the clients' requirements and budget allowances
• Complete the zoning drawings set, ready for submission to the municipalities for the zoning review
• Communicate with the City's staff to address potential comments
• Navigate the submissions to the City including the zoning review, Committee of Adjustment and Building Permits
• Perform the detailed design and complete the Issued for Permit (IFP) drawings set
• Chairing meetings with the clients and other stakeholders/consultants to coordinate the design and drawings package
• Producing Issued for Construction (IFC) set of drawings in coordination with the construction team
• Finalize the preparation of drawings, specifications, and plans.
• Managing and administrating the project's cost control, budgets, time sheets, billings to the clients, change orders and other costs associated with the design portion of the project
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:
 
Must have experience in Ontario specifically on small residential/houses design and coordination

• Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work on site at new construction sites and maintain good working relationships with subcontractors and clients.
• Must be able to work with AutoCAD, Revit, Revu Bluebeam, MS Office Suite
• BCIN license is considered as an asset 
• OBC: 1 year (required) 
• Small residential design (Part 9 of OBC): 1 year (required)

 
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the following areas:

• Residential Renovation Construction: second and third storey additions, legal basements, extensions, redesign, multiplex
• Residential Design: new build design
