Our client, Baycrest Centre, is searching for a Vice President of Digital Transformation who will be instrumental in driving strategic and operational technical leadership throughout its various entities. This pivotal role entails direct reporting to the President and the Corporate CHRO of Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care, while also fostering a collaborative partnership with Baycrest’s President & CEO and other key leaders within Baycrest’s organization. The aim is to deliver exceptional customer service, a forward-thinking technical vision, strategic guidance, and operational superiority throughout Baycrest’s technical domains.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of transforming the digital framework of their healthcare organization. Your responsibilities will include spearheading and implementing extensive digital transformation projects to boost operational effectiveness, elevate patient care, and foster innovation throughout the organization. Collaborating closely with the upper management, you will lead the adoption of advanced digital solutions and strategies to streamline operations, improve patient outcomes, and establish their organization as a frontrunner in the dynamic healthcare sector.

Key Responsibilities

The Vice President, Digital Transformation has full authority for supporting all aspects of Baycrest Centre’s technology operations within the limits of established policies and approved budgets.

Strategy Development:
  • Develop and execute a holistic digital transformation strategy aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define clear digital transformation goals, KPIs, and milestones.

Compliance and Cybersecurity:
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, privacy standards, and data security protocols in all digital initiatives and operations.
  • Implement robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard patient data and mitigate potential risks.

Future Scape and Emerging Technology Vision:
  • Understand the disruptive nature of AI within research, clinical and residential domains and recommend ways to best implement these breakthroughs into the larger organization.
  • Harness the power of Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT), recognizing the linkage between innovative business process and research and care delivery.

Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of digital experts, including project managers, data analysts, IT professionals, and change management specialists.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the digital transformation team.
  • Technology Integration and Implementation:
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging digital technologies and platforms to streamline healthcare operations, enhance patient care delivery, and drive organizational growth.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of digital solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and workflows.

Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across departments and functional areas to understand their needs, priorities, and pain points.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, administrative staff, and external partners to drive adoption of digital tools and solutions.

Change Management and Training:
  • Develop and implement change management strategies to facilitate the adoption of digital technologies and foster a culture of digital innovation.
  • Provide training, education, and support to staff members to ensure successful implementation and utilization of digital solutions.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
  • Establish metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to monitor the performance and effectiveness of digital transformation initiatives.
  • Continuously assess and optimize digital processes and workflows to drive efficiency, quality improvement, and cost savings.

The Individual and Qualifications
The position of Vice President, Digital Transformation is characterized by a unique blend of leadership skills, a proven history of success, and a diverse range of personal and professional qualities.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven business operations experience, including outside of just healthcare.
  • Proven experience (minimum 10 years) in digital transformation leadership roles within highly complex and interconnected matrix organizations.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare operations, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Experience forming strategic collaborations to achieve deliverable/objectives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams in a complex organizational environment.
  • Proficiency in digital technologies, IT systems, and software development methodologies.
  • Certified in change management (e.g., Prosci) and/or project management (e.g., PMP) is desirable.
  • A reputation for openness, integrity, and trustworthiness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, and consensus building; an individual who is accessible to the organization, understands the importance of continuous and effective communication and operates with a participative/consultative style strongly tempered with a sense of urgency and bias for action.
