Reporting directly to the Vice President Medical & Banner Programs, the individual will be responsible for establishing and building partnerships with key script generators across Canada with the objective of generating an ongoing pipeline of medical scripts into the business to ensure revenue and market share goals are in line with the overall Medical business plan.
 
The successful candidate will work alongside the existing team in maximizing the success of the program through the execution of partnerships with all current and potential influencers of medical cannabis prescriptions/benefits.   In addition, they will proactively identify opportunities to grow patient share and revenue by developing strategic partnerships with key partners who provide cannabis as a medical benefit and take the lead in identifying other new or emerging opportunities to grow the medical cannabis patient base.
 
Key Priorities:
  • Build and develop partnerships with key script generators across Canada.
  • Work closely with the Vice President Medical & Banner Programs to:
    • Establish and build external partnerships with veteran-serving organizations that will deliver new patients to the business.
    • Establish and build partnerships with medical cannabis clinics to optimize all opportunities; ensure effective clinic on-boarding to maximize patient capture
    • Develop and coordinate strategic partnerships with public/private insurers & employers that provide cannabis as a medical benefit.
    • Help identify other new or emerging opportunities to grow the medical cannabis patient base (pharmacy, long-term care, etc.)
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with key cannabis clinic partners by province.
    • Negotiate commercial terms required to become a preferred partner / drive new patient scripts and existing patient conversions.
    • Build/maintain/enhance partnership relationships over time.
  • Collaborate with Director of business development  in the management of ongoing external partnerships with key Veteran-serving organizations.
    • Manage the development of mutually beneficial partnerships that lead to share growth with the VAC-reimbursed patient base.
    • Lead the development and presentation of recommendations, including business case, for best partnership opportunities with the Vitalicann leadership team.
    • Collaborate in the negotiation of partnership agreements with the Director Business Development and Vice President Medical & Banners.
    • Collaborate with OEG S&E to create value added partnership opportunities that enhance the relationship with veteran partner organizations.
  • Support the business by identifying additional opportunities to grow market share with the insured population:
    • Build the relationship with Veteran's Affairs Canada and Medavie Blue Cross that enables a seamless patient journey for Vitalicann's veteran population.
    • Investigate opportunities with providers of insurance coverage (aside from VAC) for medical cannabis, including public and private insurers, employers, unions, etc.
  • Identify other opportunities to grow the medical cannabis patient base:
    • Explore emerging opportunities in other channels including but not limited to MVA, pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, long-term care, etc.
  • Maintain compliance with both company policies as well as legal and regulatory obligations.
Desired Qualifications:
  • A strong sales-led mentality
  • Previous experience of working with the Veteran and First Responder community will also be a definite advantage.
  • Post secondary degree required
  • 5 years of leadership experience in developing and launching new business opportunities.
  • Experience in the Cannabis/Pharma industry is strongly preferred.
  • Excels at working in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • A demonstrated track record of successfully closing deals, onboarding new partnerships and generating revenue.
  • Demonstrated experience consistently creating value for customers, employees and shareholders by driving a financially rigorous organization focused on customer satisfaction.
  • Executive level presence and presentation skills.
  • Superior negotiation skills.
  • Possesses superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and follow through with successful implementation of tactics/plans to deliver the strategy.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated recognition as a strong team player, contributor, and value-adding member in team environments.
  • A proactive person who uses his/her resources creatively.
  • A down-to-earth, no-nonsense team player who can motivate with a "hands-on, can-do" attitude; able to make decisions that are well balanced and based on the team's input.
