Position Summary The Senior Investment Operations Associate plays a key role in shaping the firm’s investment operations infrastructure. Working closely with an Addepar outsourced operations partner and accounting workflows, this individual will design and implement internal systems, automations, and controls that connect disparate tools into cohesive, reliable processes. The role is ideal for a technically minded builder and creative problem solver who enjoys improving operational efficiency through use of technology and data.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Operations Oversight
- Oversee investment operations across internal and external teams, ensuring consistent execution and robust controls for data accuracy.
- Collaborate with external operations partner to refine data mappings and integrations.
- Develop monitoring tools and exception reports to identify data inconsistencies and support timely resolution by internal parties or the firm’s external partner.
- Act as the operational lead for technology and system enhancements, serving as the bridge between leadership, vendors, and the operations team.
Reporting & Controls
- Oversee the delivery of monthly and quarterly investment reports, performance summaries, and client statements prepared by the outsourced operations partner, ensuring outputs align with portfolio activity, manager statements, and firm records.
- Maintain internal oversight controls to monitor data quality, completeness, and timeliness across reporting streams, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure reports meet accuracy, presentation, and compliance standards.
- Support internal and external audits by compiling documentation and facilitating responses to auditor requests.
Process Optimization & Technology Enablement
- Evaluate existing manual processes and systems to identify opportunities for integration and automation.
- Design and implement internal tooling such as scripts and templates that reduce repetitive tasks and data re-entry.
- Use Python, SQL, and low/no-code platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier, or Excel macros) to connect systems such as Addepar, Outlook, the firm’s CRM, and reporting tools.
- Collaborate with leadership to prioritize system improvements and document scalable processes that can support future growth.
Qualifications - 4+ years of experience in investment operations, fund administration, finance, accounting, or data-focused financial roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of investment products including public markets, private equity, hedge funds, and alternatives.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with a proven ability to build automations, data pipelines, or integrations across platforms.
- Experience implementing or connecting systems in environments without an established tech stack, ideally using tools like Zapier, Power Automate, or API-based scripts.
- Familiarity with Addepar and data structures typical of wealth management reporting.
- Proficiency in Excel and comfort managing and transforming data between multiple systems.
- Experience documenting and systematizing workflows (SOPs, data maps, reconciliation logic).
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to independently scope, test, and deploy process improvements.
