SUMMARY:
 
The mechanical design engineer will report to the Director of Engineering and work closely with the product development, supply chain, and manufacturing organizations to drive engineering changes within our electrolyzer products.  They will be responsible for ensuring that our designs are manufacturable, cost effective, serviceable, and meet required codes and standards.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with internal customers to execute design changes for electromechanical systems
  • Work with operations team to support fielded units.
  • Execute design for cost and manufacturability tasks for designs.
  • Identify areas for improvement in existing design architecture
  • Manage engineering changes from initiation to design release
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficient in Solidworks.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in a design engineering role.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and design for cost programs.
  • Experience in TRL levels 6 thru 9 and reliability testing will be excellent.
  • Experience with structural, thermal, and stress analysis for designs will be excellent.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Experience with electrolysis, fuel cells, and power generation systems a plus.
  • Experience with pressure vessels, chemical processing industry, heat exchangers will be excellent.
  • Adept in MS Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS REQUIREMENTS
  • The physical demands of this job are consistent with typical office duties including sitting and viewing computer monitors for long periods of time, using office tools and equipment, and occasional walking, twisting, bending and lifting of less than 20 pounds.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Wearing of appropriate PPE as required (e.g., safety shoes, glasses, vest, hard hat, mask, face shield, respirators).
