JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Manager, the Deputy Manager, Mobile Maintenance is responsible for providing leadership, oversight and direction for the Mobile Maintenance department. The position collaborates with key stakeholders in safety, environment, human resources, training, operations, maintenance planning, reliability, continuous improvement and supply chain to ensure safe maintenance execution, prioritization of operational requirements and compliance to schedule and processes in order to meet equipment availability targets. The position will provide leadership to the mobile maintenance team (superintendents, coordinators, supervisor and workforce) to ensure work, tooling, parts and components are planned and safely completed.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Lead the Maintenance organization to ensure maintenance is safely executed in compliance with the established schedule for mobile assets;
  • Lead in the development of maintenance procedures and processes that align with operational targets to optimize the availability and reliability of all mobile equipment;
  • Facilitate respectful and cooperative interdepartmental communications as part of the Senior Management Team;
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures;
  • Create, maintain, train and audit work flows to deliver value through an optimized maintenance schedule and material accuracy;
  • Establish and report out on leading and lagging KPI’s related to maintenance planning and scheduling in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Promote and implement continuous improvement actions in all aspects of Maintenance;
  • Lead the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets for maintenance;
  • Develop and sustain good inter-departmental relationships;
  • Participate in Leadership in the Field to maintain site wide operational awareness;
  • Demonstrate and ensure all employees adhere to the expectations and principles of the company’s values;
  • Ensure the effective utilization of the CMMS system for planning, material acquisition and scheduling of maintenance work to increase uptime of equipment
  • Use a process, factual, and data-centric approach to identify areas of inefficiency and ineffectiveness in both daily and long-term maintenance and partner with key stakeholders (maintenance execution, operations, reliability and supply chain, etc.) to address and capitalize on opportunities to maximize resource utilization and minimize costs;
  • Provide opportunities for training and development of the maintenance team;
  • Ensure that the planned work activities are all in compliance with safety procedures and the planned schedules;
  • Ensure that priority is given on planned work based on OEM maintenance practices.
  • Improve the corrective, preventive and predictive aspects of the maintenance strategy.
  • Drive the Work Order life cycle from Work Request to Work order completion. (Validation, Estimation, Work Packages, Scheduling, Execution, Completion, Data entries, closing).
  • Develop budgets for scheduled and planned work and Implement forecasting in SAP as a budgeting and forecasting tool for monthly and annual planning.
  • Ensure Parts BOMs are developed for all planned and repetitive work and promote the development of effective work instructions (SOPs) for addition to SAP.
  • Assist in managing a mix of processes, technology, funds, and people to balance 1-year result requirements with 1 to 5-year improvement milestones.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in (Mechanical or Electrical) Engineering is mandatory
  • 5+ years experience of equipment planning/scheduling
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience
  • 10 years of experience with surface mobile and fixed mining equipment
  • Related mining, oil and gas or heavy industry experience is essential.
  • Experience and ability to plan and schedule equipment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Experienced in the planning and development of production and maintenance plans.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and reliability would be advantageous
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven budgetary skills, cost control, and effective reporting skills.
  • Arctic experience would be beneficial
  • Experience working with Impact Benefits Agreements and communities would be an asset.
  • Fluency in English, oral and written.
