There is light at the end of the tunnel. With vaccines starting to be administered across the country, we can start to look ahead to the post-pandemic workplace. What this will look like will depend on many factors, including our ability to be willing to break out of our comfort zone and continue to take advantage of what we learned during the pandemic about how we work.

Here are some ideas from our recruitment agency of what we could expect from the post-pandemic workplace:

Things Will Not Automatically Go Back to Normal

It’s safe to say that it will take some time for the workplace to start to resemble what it did pre-pandemic. It may never fully go back to normal. Companies will take a cautious approach. Some of the health and safety measures that were put in place for COVID will stay.

A Hybrid Work Model

One of the big wins stemming from being forced to work from home is that we’ve proven that it can be done, and it can be done productively. Expect companies to start to move back into the office once it’s safe to do so. But you can also expect some people to continue to work remotely.

The way we work and the way we use the office is going to change. Look for an increasing number of companies to implement a hybrid work model where employees work part of the time at home and part of the time in the office.

Redesigning Workspaces

The look and design of workspaces will change. Expect more space to be used in the design and layout of the office. Many companies may opt for smaller offices because they will have fewer employees in the office full time.

Expect a Transition Period

It may take a little time for companies to get fully back into the flow of things. Company culture, work-life balance, diversity and even policies and procedures for how we work all need an update. Expect a transition period for companies to ramp up and re-establish themselves.
